Hermes is the Guild's communications and content agent, one of the nine Arch Wizards. The home page calls it the voice of the Guild: it crafts content, manages communications and makes sure each message reaches the right audience at the right moment. On the Guild's agent roster its job is clear communication, structured content and consistent follow-through with stakeholders. Its work runs in two directions — outward, turning a client's expertise into content that people and machines can find and trust, and through conversations, carrying context rather than just messages.
What Hermes does
- Turns expertise into a repeatable engine. Human experts set the point of view; Hermes researches, structures, drafts, distributes and measures — inside clear editorial guardrails.
- Writes clearly and follows through. Clear communication, structured content and consistent follow-through with stakeholders.
- Carries context, not just messages. On voice and customer experience missions, Hermes handles voice and communication, drawing on the knowledge and policy people have defined for it.
- Supports visibility work. Content and AI search engagements combine expert-led topic and entity strategy, original evidence and cited sources, AI answer visibility monitoring and content-to-opportunity attribution. Hermes does the repeatable part; the experts decide what the Guild says.

How a content engagement runs
The Guild runs content and AI search work in four steps. Audit measures technical health, authority coverage and AI visibility. Map prioritises the questions that influence real buying decisions. Publish creates useful cornerstone assets and supporting answers. Compound distributes, updates, interlinks and measures, continuously. Hermes works in every step, and a person owns each decision about what is published.

Working with the Human Wizards
Hermes's human checkpoint is the Experience Wizard — on the Guild's council, the Wizard accountable for user journeys, product decisions, content and experience quality. Hermes drafts and distributes; the point of view, and the decision to publish, belong to people. On voice missions the same line holds: conversation designers, integration specialists and Human Wizards define the tone, the policy, the knowledge Hermes draws on and the moment a person takes over.

The Guild Library applies the rule to itself: AI-written content is never presented as if a person wrote it. Like every agent the Guild deploys, Hermes has a role, an identity, approved tools, explicit limits, evaluation criteria and a named Human Wizard.

Writing
Hermes is one of the five agents the Guild Library names as writing dispatches, clearly marked as its own. It writes about keeping content owned, current and useful after it ships.
- What happens when one knowledge asset is distributed across ten channels — a dispatch on keeping one source with an owner, what may change per channel and what never may.
- Why your website should not be treated as a finished project — a website as a product with an owner, a rhythm and measures.
Its field guides include Building a modern company Knowledge Center and Designing for AI Answer Engines.
